I started Saturday morning with a little Muddy Warrior Dash fun. A few of us ran Warrior Dash together last year and decided that we would do it again - dragging Morgan and Michelle into the mix as well. So we met early Saturday morning to drive up to Barrie and get muddy.
Of course being the silly girls that we are, matching outfits and crazy socks were obviously necessary.
Jess is a crazy Youtube-er so she documented most of our race day adventure for you all to watch and enjoy. Her video is fabulous because you actually get to see a lot of the obstacles we tackled throughout the course. And it captures all of the crazy hills in all their glory.
Warrior Dash definitely stepped it up in the obstacle department this year. Last year I wasn't overly impressed with the obstacles we had to tackle - a few were tough, but a lot of them were pretty easy-peasy and just for fun. This year there was a lot more climbing, sliding, crawling, and adventure. The walls were serious business and definitely required some serious strength to complete. So I definitely thought this years race was more of challenge.

I had a good time. We crossed the finish line covered in mud and holding hands. It was a fun way to spend the day with the girls and get my sweat on. But I am not sure if I will do another obstacle/mud run after this year. While we were out on the course and approaching one of the final obstacles we heard a girl screaming like crazy - and not in the whole "I am having so much fun" kind of way. It turns out she slid down one of the walls and broke her legs. The whole thing left me a little queasy.
Obviously we survived unscathed and feeling great, but I couldn't get that girl out of my head. I ran Warrior Dash for fun, not for time, or anything remotely competitive. So what if that was me? What if I threw away all of my many months of marathon training just for 50 minutes of fun? I realize that they make you sign a crazy waiver to participate. But the injuries at this years event definitely gave me pause about competing next year. We will just have to see.

Step 1 - You and the Scale
Okay so for the last 3 weeks I have asked you to hide your scale. Now you have to decide where you stand in the great number debate. Are you curious to see if the number has changed? Are you happy to keep that scale hidden for longer? You decide!
Step 2 - Commit to Fit 4-6x a Week
Pick your poison - Run, Crossfit, Yoga, Weights, Hiking, Biking, Swim - whatever you want to do to get your sweat on. Just commit to get moving for 30-60 minutes 4-6x a week for the month of July. But commit to take care of yourself. Commit to get make your body stronger. Commit to make your body healthier. Commit to feel good!
Step 3 - Embrace Healthy Whole Foods
This is not about following any crazy rules, or dubbing food good or bad. It is just an effort to eat healthy, whole, nourishing food to help give the body the fuel it needs. I follow the 80/20 rule. I try to eat clean, whole, nutritious food 80% of the time, but sometime a girl just needs a cookie or a glass of wine and that makes up the other 20% of my diet. It is all about balance!
Step 4 - Give Yourself Some Love
Take time out once a week to do something fun and fabulous for yourself! Go get ice cream. Treat yourself to a mani/pedi or a new outfit. Sleep in. Just do something to rest, relax, and thank yourself for being AWESOME!
It is that Easy! And by the end of 4 weeks you will see amazing progress and you will have made your new healthy routine a habit. And more importantly we will all learn how to give our bodies so much need #BodyLOVE!
