#BodyLOVE Week 3 - Starting the Week off Right

Are you all ready for Week 3?! I mentioned that last week was not my best. I had an ulcer setback and it was throwing off my whole week. I didn't know what to do diet-wise. And that meant I had no idea how to fuel my marathon training. From Sunday to Sunday I have run a total of 77km (aka 47 miles for my American buddies) and all that mileage translates to a lot of calories. All my trusty calorie-dense go-to meals were not cutting it. My tummy was angry. My energy levels were low. And to be frank - I was freakin' hungry!
So I spent this weekend regrouping, coming up with yummy tummy-friendly meal ideas, and rethinking my fueling strategy. And today I put it to the test. I had 26km (aka 16 miles) on tap, so it was the perfect opportunity try out my new meal plan.
The run itself was ROUGH! It was crazy humid here. I had to refill my Camelbak at the Starbucks 14 kilometers in. But I pushed through. I was completely drenched when I finished. And I ended my run with a BEAST of a hill - 500 dreadful meters to be exact. But I finished STRONG. I was hot and sticky and ready to be done. But my legs felt great. And my tummy...even better!
So what does this new Happy Tummy Diet involve...
  • Lots of Fruits and Veggies! I mean LOTS!!
  • Limited amounts of processed grains. Carbs are necessary fuel, but gluten-free has been easier to digest lately.
  • No Diary
  • No Coffee (so depressing, but so necessary)
  • Limited Sugar Intake
Sounds pretty boring doesn't it?! I am not gonna is. But until I get my ulcer healed and this body back in fighting form, I have to keep these things in mind.

I am planning on cheating Friday night, however, Because I have a hot date with my Hubby for our 5th Wedding Anniversary. And we are going out for a delicious French meal! I still gonna try to make tummy-friendly choices but I am planning on having dessert. It is all about BALANCE!

And that is what this challenge is all about! Let's start measuring success in terms of Health, Confidence, Happiness, and Love! The same rules apply. And this week I have another pair of Mizuno Wave Sayonaras up for grabs! Wanna join the Fun!?
If you are new to #BodyLOVE here's how you can join in the Challenge!

Step 1 - Get Rid of Your Scale!
Keep those scales hidden ladies! Gasp! I know! Not forever, but for this month. Put it in the closet. Skip weighing in at the gym. No scale for the next 4 weeks! Choose health for Health - not for a number.

Step 2 - Commit to Fit 4-6x a Week
Pick your poison - Run, Crossfit, Yoga, Weights, Hiking, Biking, Swim - whatever you want to do to get your sweat on. Just commit to get moving for 30-60 minutes 4-6x a week for the month of July. But commit to take care of yourself. Commit to get make your body stronger. Commit to make your body healthier. Commit to feel good!

Step 3 - Embrace Healthy Whole Foods
This is not about following any crazy rules, or dubbing food good or bad. It is just an effort to eat healthy, whole, nourishing food to help give the body the fuel it needs. I follow the 80/20 rule. I try to eat clean, whole, nutritious food 80% of the time, but sometime a girl just needs a cookie or a glass of wine and that makes up the other 20% of my diet. It is all about balance!

Step 4 - Give Yourself Some Love
Take time out once a week to do something fun and fabulous for yourself! Go get ice cream. Treat yourself to a mani/pedi or a new outfit. Sleep in. Just do something to rest, relax, and thank yourself for being AWESOME!

It is that Easy! And by the end of 4 weeks you will see amazing progress and you will have made your new healthy routine a habit. And more importantly we will all learn how to give our bodies so much need #BodyLOVE!
