#WIAW - A Long Weekend and a Valentine

It's that time again - What I Ate Wednesday - except that I am sharing my long weekend adventure and my Saturday eats.

It is pretty safe to say that after 2 weeks essentially stuck indoors I was starting to go a little stir crazy. I was ready to shake off the cobwebs and get out for a little while. All of  which is always a good sign - because that means I am healing and shows that my energy levels are returning to normal.
So the hubby and I decided to venture out Saturday morning for a belated Valentines Day celebration. Our love of all things Breakfast sent us out in search of city's best Waffles - which is how we ended up Le Petit Dejeuner. Mr. Darwinian Fail has had a hankering for a good waffle in the worst way, and these folks are known for theirs. Waffles for him and Apple Pancakes for her. It was delicious! And the perfect start to our long weekend.
After breakfast we strolled over St. Lawrence Market to explore the farmer's market and enjoy the hustle and bustle. We left stocked up with all the making of a delicious dinner and smiles.
 I must confess that morning was more activity than I had seen in a while, so I came home primed and ready for nap. My tummy is still a bit of a work in progress, so I must admit I didn't have too much for lunch. Just a smoothie and some veggies topped with tazkiki.
With all of our fresh ingredients and a bottle of red I was looking forward to our kitchen experiment. I stopped taking any pain meds last Wednesday, so I felt a glass of celebratory wine was well in order. We toasted over Poached Halibut dressed a sherry vinegrette, served with broccoli and roasted potatoes.

It was a Delicious Day. And the Perfect Long Weekend.
Lots of time with my family, filled with food, rest and recovery.
