Motivation Monday and Moving Madness

It's Monday. I'm Back. And it is time to get motivated friends.

I won't sugarcoat it for you all - last week was crazy, hectic, stressful and not the best in terms of achieving a healthy balance. Last week was consumed with term paper writing, packing, unpacking, and cleaning. The dishes were packed so takeout and convience food was consumed several times. And aside from the weight training I got transporting my stuff from the old apartment to the new, not much happened in terms of formal exercise either.

But sometimes that happens. Life happens. And that's okay.

It's a new week. It's a new month. And as of Wednesday it is a brand new year for me. On Wendesday I will say farwell to 27 and offically become 28. It has been a hell of a year, so I won't be sad to see the backside of 27. I am ready to reset and I have been longing for a fresh start. So now seems like as good a time as any, doesn't it?

I have fought long and hard to get myself healthy. I have a good feeling about 28. And I have big plans for 2013. So the Strong is Sexy Challenge is ramping up for the holiday season to help me stay on track and start this new year right.

So the same rules apply for December...

* Eat Clean - This is not about following any crazy rules, or dubbing food good or bad. It is just an effort to eat healthy, whole, nourishing food with a focus on protein, to help give those muscles the fuel they need. (I follow the 80/20 rule. I try to eat clean, whole, nutritious food 80% of the time, but sometime a girl just needs some birthday cake, Christmas Baileys, and a taste of season which will make up 20% of my diet)
*Strength Train - 3x/week. My routine will ideally remain the same with 2 crossfit classes + 1 at-home upper body routine each week. But with all of traveling we do during the holidays and the changing holiday schedule I am super excited to try incorporating Hard Candy Fitness's Addicted to Sweat DVD series.
This is a dance based, kick butt, Madonna inspired DVD series. And last time I checked Madonna was looking pretty Strong and Sexy at 54, so if it's good enough for her than it should be good enough for this little Darwinian Fail. I think this will be fun way to get my sweat on. Plus the DVDs are easy to transport as I bounce around from one set of Christmas festivities to the next.


*Run 3x/week - Running as always remains my first love. And with big running plans for 2013 (*cough* Marathon #2 and redemption *ahem*), running and distance training is a MUST. Not to mention it is ideal for my busy holiday schedule. You just need your sneakers, some road, in my case a heart rate monitor and your are good to go. So let's do this!

Despite this past year's trials and tribulations; I want to start 28 tougher, more tenacious, and having gained a greater appreciation for myself and my journey towards health and wellness. Its a new year and a new me! Nothing is going to hold me back!
